Trauma Recovery Therapy

Traumatic incidents, adverse experiences, and chronic stress can negatively impact the mind, body, heart, and spirit. These can shape the way the person thinks about themselves, the world, or others. These change the person’s sense of safety and security. Therefore, many times self-loathing and helplessness consequently follows. Furthermore, feelings of  shame, guilt, anxiety, and/or overwhelming are part of trauma. The combination of negative thoughts and distressful feelings often leads to behavioral changes including isolation.

It is important to know that an individual’s response to a traumatic incident, adverse experience, or chronic stress differs from person to person. Another important fact to take into account is that a person’s recovery varies depending on several factors. Some of these factors include: the length/frequency and number of adverse experiences, the person’s perception of the event, the access to support that the person had after the event, and environmental circumstances the person is in.

At 4Growth Counseling and Wellness our psychotherapists and professionals are trained in different trauma recovery therapies and interventions.  We understand that people’s responses to treatment differ from one person to another. For this reason, we assess and  work with our client to identify what is the best approach for each person. We are aware that everyone is at a different place in their healing journey when they arrive. Therefore, we strive to meet our clients where they are at.
